Job Title: Hole Watcher (OPCO Approved)

Job Purpose

The Hole Watcher is responsible for monitoring openings, manholes, pits, excavations, and confined space entry points to ensure personnel safety and compliance with approved permits, safety procedures, and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain constant surveillance of openings, manholes, pits, and confined space entry points.
  • Control and record the entry and exit of authorized personnel.
  • Verify that all required permits and safety precautions are in place before work begins.
  • Maintain communication with workers inside confined spaces and work areas.
  • Prevent unauthorized access to restricted or hazardous areas.
  • Continuously observe work activities and identify unsafe conditions or practices.
  • Raise alarms and initiate emergency response procedures when required.
  • Ensure rescue equipment and emergency arrangements are readily available and accessible.
  • Stop work and notify supervisors immediately in the event of unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain attendance logs, entry/exit records, and safety monitoring documentation.
  • Coordinate with Permit Holders, Safety Officers, Supervisors, and Emergency Response Teams.
  • Ensure full compliance with OPCO, QatarEnergy, LNG, and site-specific safety procedures.

Required Skills

  • Good understanding of confined space entry requirements and safety procedures.
  • Ability to recognize workplace hazards and emergency situations.
  • Strong observation and monitoring skills.
  • Effective communication and reporting abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and during emergency situations.
  • Knowledge of permit-to-work systems and site safety regulations.

HSE Responsibilities

  • Follow all HSE policies, procedures, and client requirements.
  • Wear and maintain required PPE at all times.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and emergency drills.
  • Immediately report incidents, near misses, hazards, and unsafe conditions.
  • Promote a safe working environment and ensure compliance with all safety standards.

Qualification

  • High School Certificate or Diploma preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

Experience

  • Minimum 1–3 years of experience in industrial, construction, oil & gas, petrochemical, or shutdown environments.

Certification Requirements

  • Valid OPCO Approved Hole Watcher Certification.
  • QatarEnergy / LNG Safety Certification (preferred).
  • Valid site safety training certificates as required by the client.

Language Requirement

  • English (Mandatory)
