Job Summary
The Environmental Officer is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and ensuring compliance with environmental and sustainability requirements on construction sites. The role involves managing environmental performance, conducting inspections, reporting non-conformances, and supporting the implementation of the Construction Environmental and Social Management Plan (CESMP) and sustainability initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor the requirements of the Construction Environmental and Social Management Plan (CESMP).
- Conduct regular environmental inspections and audits across the project site.
- Monitor environmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and prepare periodic reports.
- Identify environmental non-conformances and coordinate corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure compliance with project environmental regulations, permits, and sustainability requirements.
- Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders on environmental matters.
- Maintain environmental records, reports, and documentation.
- Promote environmental awareness and sustainability best practices among site personnel.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of overall experience and 3 years of relevant experience in environmental and sustainability management on construction projects.
- Experience in managing, coordinating, monitoring, inspecting, and reporting environmental aspects on construction sites.
- Good knowledge of environmental regulations, sustainability practices, and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in preparing reports and maintaining environmental documentation.
- Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management Degree/Diploma/Certificate is preferred.
- Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in environmental auditing and compliance monitoring.
- Knowledge of waste management, pollution control, and sustainability reporting.
- Ability to work independently and coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams.
