Job Purpose:

The Pharmacy Informatics & e-Prescription Subject Matter Expert (SME) will lead and support the implementation, optimization, integration, and maintenance of pharmacy informatics systems and electronic prescription (e-Prescription) solutions across healthcare facilities. The role will act as the key liaison between pharmacy operations, clinical teams, and IT departments to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant medication management workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

Pharmacy Informatics & System Management

  • Lead the implementation and enhancement of pharmacy information systems and e-Prescription platforms.
  • Analyze pharmacy workflows and recommend system improvements to optimize efficiency and patient safety.
  • Configure, test, validate, and support pharmacy-related applications and interfaces.
  • Ensure proper integration between HIS/EMR, CPOE, e-Prescription, and pharmacy dispensing systems.
  • Monitor system performance and resolve application-related issues in coordination with vendors and IT teams.
  • Support formulary management, medication databases, drug dictionaries, and clinical decision support tools.

e-Prescription & Clinical Workflow Support

  • Provide SME guidance on e-Prescription processes, medication ordering, verification, dispensing, and administration workflows.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, medication safety standards, and data privacy requirements.
  • Participate in medication safety initiatives and quality improvement projects.
  • Assist clinicians and pharmacists with workflow optimization and system utilization.

Training & User Support

  • Conduct user training sessions for pharmacists, physicians, and healthcare staff.
  • Develop user manuals, SOPs, workflow documents, and training materials.
  • Provide end-user support and troubleshoot pharmacy application issues.
  • Coordinate UAT (User Acceptance Testing) and system go-live activities.

Project Coordination & Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate with healthcare management, clinical teams, IT departments, and vendors for successful project execution.
  • Participate in digital transformation and healthcare IT initiatives related to pharmacy services.
  • Prepare reports, project updates, and system performance documentation.
  • Support rollout activities across multiple healthcare facilities when required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy, Pharmacy Informatics, Health Informatics, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Master’s Degree or relevant certification in Healthcare Informatics is preferred.
  • Licensed Pharmacist is an advantage.

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in pharmacy informatics, hospital pharmacy systems, or healthcare IT.
  • Hands-on experience with e-Prescription systems, EMR/HIS integration, and pharmacy management applications.
  • Experience in healthcare digital transformation projects and system rollouts.
  • GCC/Qatar healthcare experience is preferred.

Required Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy workflows and medication management processes.
  • Experience with HIS/EMR systems such as Cerner, Epic, InterSystems TrakCare, or similar platforms.
  • Understanding of HL7 interfaces, system integration, and clinical data standards.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work under pressure.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Information & Management Systems (CPHIMS)
  • Pharmacy Informatics Certification
  • PMP or other project management certification is an advantage
