Junior Pipe fitter
Job Description:
The Junior Pipe Fitter will support offshore piping and pipeline maintenance, repair, installation and inspection activities. The role requires practical pipe-fitting skills, strict compliance with offshore safety procedures, and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary maintenance team in an offshore environment.
3. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in pipe fitting, installation, alignment, dismantling and replacement activities.
- Carry out pipe surface repair and routine maintenance work as instructed by the supervisor.
- Assist with fabrication, modification and installation of piping components and supports.
- Read and work from basic piping drawings, isometric drawings and work instructions.
- Assist with measuring, cutting, fitting, positioning and alignment of pipes and fittings.
- Support inspection activities and identify visible defects, corrosion, damage or leakage.
- Assist in flange, valve, gasket and fitting installation and maintenance.
- Use hand tools, measuring tools and pipe-fitting tools safely and correctly.
- Follow approved method statements, risk assessments, Permit-to-Work (PTW) requirements and toolbox talks.
- Maintain good housekeeping and ensure tools and work areas are kept safe and organized.
- Report unsafe conditions, equipment defects and work-related issues to the supervisor immediately.
- Follow all offshore HSE, emergency response and environmental procedures.
4. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 2–3 years of relevant pipe-fitting experience.
- Previous offshore experience is mandatory/preferred for successful deployment.
- Experience in piping, pipeline, oil & gas, petrochemical or heavy industrial maintenance is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with pipe installation, fitting, maintenance and basic inspection activities.
- Ability to work safely in an offshore environment and follow strict site procedures.
5. MANDATORY CERTIFICATIONS & DOCUMENTS
- Valid T-BOSIET (Tropical Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training) certificate.
- Valid offshore safety / emergency training certification as applicable to the project.
- Valid offshore medical fitness certificate approved/accepted for offshore deployment.
- Valid Qatar ID (QID) / legal work status, where applicable.
- Valid passport.
- NOC / transferable sponsorship status, where applicable.
6. TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Basic knowledge of piping systems, fittings, flanges, valves and pipe supports.
- Ability to use basic pipe-fitting hand tools and measuring equipment.
- Basic understanding of piping installation, alignment and maintenance practices.
- Ability to interpret basic piping drawings and work instructions.
- Good awareness of offshore hazards, PPE requirements and safe working practices.
7. PERSONAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Physically fit and medically suitable for offshore work.
- Comfortable working in confined, elevated and outdoor/offshore conditions where required.
- Able to work shifts, extended hours and according to offshore rotation/project requirements.
- Good teamwork, discipline, communication and willingness to follow instructions.
- Strong commitment to safety and compliance with company and client procedures.
8. SAFETY & HSE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Wear and maintain all required PPE at all times.
- Comply with Permit-to-Work, Job Safety Analysis/Risk Assessment and toolbox talk requirements.
- Follow offshore emergency response, evacuation and muster procedures.
- Immediately report unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, near misses and incidents.
- Maintain housekeeping standards and prevent spills, dropped objects and other workplace hazards.
9. CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Candidates with genuine offshore pipe-fitting experience will be given preference.
- Candidates must have valid and verifiable offshore training and medical certification.
- Candidates should be available for immediate deployment or short notice.
- Candidates must be willing to work on a 3-month offshore assignment in Qatar.
