Fire Alarm & Firefighting Systems Technician
Job Description:
Job Purpose
To install, inspect, maintain, and repair fire alarm and firefighting systems to ensure compliance with Qatar Civil Defense (QCD) regulations and international safety standards. The role focuses on ensuring all fire protection systems are operational, reliable, and ready to respond effectively in case of emergencies.
Key Responsibilities
1. Installation & Maintenance

Install, test, and commission fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, fire pumps, and fire extinguishers.

Perform routine preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of system components (control panels, detectors, valves, pumps, etc.).

Ensure proper wiring, panel programming, and integration of systems with Building Management Systems (BMS).
2. Inspection & Testing

Conduct weekly, monthly, and quarterly system inspections as per QCD and NFPA standards.

Test alarm and suppression systems for proper functionality and document all findings.

Calibrate detection devices and ensure system reliability and responsiveness.
3. Repairs & Emergency Response

Diagnose and repair faults in alarm systems, fire pumps, sprinklers, or suppression units.

Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests to restore functionality.

Replace faulty components and verify system performance after repairs.
4. Documentation & Compliance

Maintain detailed records of inspections, maintenance, and test reports.

Ensure full compliance with QCD, NFPA, and manufacturer specifications.

Support safety audits and assist in certification renewals.
Mandatory Requirements
Education
-
Diploma or Technical Certificate in Electrical, Mechanical, or Fire Protection Engineering.
Certifications
-
Qatar Civil Defense (QCD) Technician Approval mandatory.

NFPA certification or equivalent fire system training preferred.
Experience
-
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in fire alarm and firefighting system maintenance (preferably in Qatar or GCC).

Hands-on experience with Honeywell, Simplex, Notifier, or Siemens fire systems.
Technical Skills

Strong knowledge of NFPA standards, QCD codes, and system testing procedures.

Ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams and layout drawings.

Skilled in using electrical tools, testing instruments, and control panels.
Soft Skills

Strong problem-solving and time management abilities.

Ability to work independently or within a maintenance team.

Good communication skills in English (Arabic is an advantage).
