Electrical Technician
Job Description:
Job Purpose
To perform hands-on installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all facility electrical systems and equipment, ensuring safe, reliable, and continuous operation of the building's power infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Preventive and Corrective Maintenance: Execute scheduled Preventive Maintenance (PM) checks and perform corrective repairs on electrical systems, including lighting circuits, power outlets, distribution panels, switches, motors, and controls.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve electrical faults, short circuits, and system failures in low and medium-voltage electrical components using multimeters and other testing equipment.
- Emergency Systems Support: Assist the Electrical Engineer in testing, maintaining, and repairing emergency power systems, including generators, UPS units, and ATS (Automatic Transfer Switches).
- Installation Work: Perform safe and compliant installation of new electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment as required for small renovation or repair projects.
- Safety and Compliance: Strictly adhere to all electrical safety procedures, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and national/local electrical codes during all work activities.
- Documentation: Record details of all maintenance and repair activities, material usage, and test results in the maintenance management system or logs.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Technical diploma or vocational certificate in Electrical Technology, Industrial Electrician, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as an Electrical Technician in the maintenance and repair of electrical systems within commercial or large institutional buildings.
- Skills:
- Proven ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
- Expertise in using electrical testing instruments, hand tools, and power tools safely and effectively.
- Solid knowledge of troubleshooting techniques for motors, controls, lighting, and power distribution systems.
- Familiarity with safety procedures for working with electrical hazards and live systems.
