Job Purpose

The Civil Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, coordinating, and supervising civil engineering, construction, infrastructure, and MEP-related projects. The role ensures that projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with technical specifications, Qatar Energy requirements, statutory regulations, and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

Project Design & Planning

  • Prepare and review civil engineering designs, drawings, calculations, and technical specifications.
  • Develop project schedules, work plans, and resource requirements.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, site assessments, and engineering evaluations.
  • Coordinate design activities with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Construction Supervision

  • Supervise civil construction activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Monitor contractor performance and verify work progress.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and resolve engineering issues.
  • Ensure proper implementation of construction methodologies and best practices.

Project Management

  • Plan, execute, monitor, and control assigned projects from initiation to completion.
  • Coordinate manpower, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, and progress while identifying and mitigating project risks.
  • Prepare progress reports and provide updates to project stakeholders.

Technical Documentation

  • Prepare and review engineering reports, method statements, inspection reports, and technical documentation.
  • Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, material approvals, and as-built drawings.
  • Maintain accurate project records and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal departments.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and site personnel.
  • Participate in project meetings and engineering reviews.
  • Support multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project execution.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with Qatar Energy standards, local regulations, project specifications, and international engineering codes.
  • Ensure adherence to Permit to Work (PTW) procedures and HSE requirements.
  • Participate in risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations where required.
  • Promote a strong safety culture across all project activities.

Qualifications & Skills

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.

Experience

  • Minimum 6 years of relevant civil engineering experience.
  • Experience in construction, infrastructure, industrial, or MEP projects.
  • Previous Qatar Energy project experience is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Permit to Work (PTW) systems and industrial safety procedures.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Microsoft Office Suite, and project management software (MS Project/Primavera P6 preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, structural systems, construction methods, and materials.
  • Understanding of engineering standards, specifications, and quality assurance procedures.
